A Millionaire
Becoming a millionaire has always been a dream of mine. It’s just a mere segment of achieving the American Dream. Why is it that I want it so much? The American Dream looks and sounds so desirable, but I’ve found something better. I’ll write up a post (actually probly an essay) about the American Dream and Christianity one day.
But for now, I want to make a life goal. I’m going to make a million dollars! It’s simple, just invest $5000 a year for around 35 some-odd years, and bam. Million!! Simple! And then I’ll tell my kids how I invested a million dollars into my savings account.
Or, I can invest, $5000 a year, for around 35 some-odd years, into global missions. Into feeding, caring, building the poor, the lost, the sons and daughters of God around the world. Then I can tell my kids that I invested a million dollars into the kingdom of God. Not for self-righteousness, not for legalism, but for God’s glory.
Perspectives
This has been a theme for quite a bit in my life..
Perspective has allowed me to love my mom and dad and have a strong relationship now. All those times I was being whiny and wanting it my way, I look at their point of view and I see a brat. If I were to have children soon, I would hate to see them like I used to be. To be appreciated, loved, and not just a bank is what I as a parent would like to be known as. I am proud to say my relationship with my family has never been better.. praise God! I encourage everyone that is having family problems (probly everyone) I’m sorry but you have to look at yourself too.
Perspective has also allowed me to discern my whole relationship with God, and to help others. It seems like this is definitely the season where God is humbling, testing, and causing great suffering almost everyone, including me. But to know that we are sharing thr same sufferings of christ, someone who most definitely didn’t deserve anything at all, changes my heart.
Today was one of the most challenging days, physically and emotionally, and I felt like complaining. Then I looked to a different vantage point. How dumb would I look as I type into a smartphone about a decently-paying job and a “saddened state of mind” when there’s people with actual problems? Hahaha so foolish of me!
This is definitely a season where God is refining me, and albeit painful, I’m thankful to have a God that loves me unconditionally, cause if it was conditional I would die in a second. Each day I find myself more sinful than the day before, and each day I come up with the same epiphany, and it always seems new!! “What? He STILL loves me???” And then from there, with faith, hope, and love, comes the ever so paradoxical, yet beautiful, process of ‘dying to gain life’.
Let’s Have A Graaandview Day!!
Oh lawd, where to begin? Camp Grandview is a place where people and kids of any age can escape their lives for a couple of days and worship the God of creation. It was a safe haven for some, and for others just a break from their home. For me, it was all of the above!
At first I was obviously scared and nervous going into this new job almost blindly; I didn’t know a single soul there. It was time to get out of my Korean bubble. What was my purpose? I was at Camp Grandview for the kids, to provide encouragement to fellow staff members, pretty much to shine the light of Jesus!! God had huge plans for me..

This was by far the best job I have had (and probably will have). I loved the staff, I loved the kids, I loved God’s work there. He seriously moved so freely at those camp grounds. There were many dark moments but the myriad of light moments outshine those so hard. I thank God a billion times. I thank God for making me stronger, guiding me every single step of the way, and for being the savior of the world. The only expectation I had prior to going to camp was that He was gonna rock my world. It hath been rocketh. I’ve met absolutely amazing people, amazing kids, and seen/walked through the most BEAUTIFUL places of God’s creation. Our God is truly an awesome God.
Camp Grandview 2012???
